The highest educational goal of a nation is to create ideal citizens and individuals who are capable of fulfilling their own goals and striving to create a progressive society. With this vision of ‘Man-making’, "Vivekananda Jr. College" (VJC) was established in the year 2003, by Late N.C. Paul at Chengkuri Road, Silchar- 7. The College was inaugurated by Prof. Subhas Saha, the former Vice Chancellor of Assam University Silchar. Vivekananda Jr. College is a co educational institution affiliated to Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). The College seeks to provide education to all sections of the society, irrespective of religion, caste or community.
To cater the massive public demand, the college authority has introduced the much awaited Arts and Science streams in the year 2008 and 2014 respectively and now it becomes a full-fledged junior college with Arts, Science and Commercestreams.
It is to be mentioned here that in addition to Cent percent Success rate in H.S. Final Examinations in Commerce and another student of commerce secured the State highest marks in Accountancy. With the inspiration derived from the great success achieved by the College, the Degree Courses of studies in Commerce (Pass/Hons.) and Arts (Pass) under Assam University, Silchar were introduced in the year 2010 and 2014 respectively in the name of "N.C.
